Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

(Course Outline)
The Department of Civil offers Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. This department has four major divisions such as Environmental Engineering, Geo-technical Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transportation Engineering. These divisions offer basic and advanced optional courses. Research on the above fields is extremely important in the national and international context. This includes areas like behavior of available building and road materials with emphasis on engineering and soil properties of the various region of the country, Low cost of the cyclone resistant housing, waste management etc. Civil Engineers are responsible for aspect of huge construction project. They coordinate the environmental assessment and helped to maintain good relations with the local communities who are most affected by the project. They designed and built the striking cable state bridge, and solved the problem of building the approach roads across some very soft ground. Professional civil engineers are the people who device and built the essential facilities on which we all depend and which form our basic infrastructure on land and in water. Every reservoir, dam, water treatment works, road, bridge, tunnel and large building is designed and built by civil engineers who also develop the required technology and manage the construction process. So civil engineers play a vital role in modern life as they help to shape the basic structure of the world we live in.
Duration of the Program:
The duration of the program is 4 (four) academic years.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program consists of 64 courses having 160.0 credit hours with project and thesis (55 courses having 140.75 credit hours for diploma engineers).
