Md. Humayun Kabir (B.Sc. & M.Sc., JU; PhD Fellow, University of California, Merced, USA)

Md. Humayun Kabir is the Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental Science at Stamford University Bangladesh. He graduated with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees majoring Geography and Environment from Jahangirnagar University, and currently pursuing his PhD from the University of California, Merced, USA. A geographer by training, Mr. Kabir’s research focuses in areas of urbanization science, land system science, climate change, &surface water hydrology. He is particularly interested on how urbanization will affect the planet. He integrates GIS, remote sensing, field interviews, and modeling methods to study urbanization and land change, forecast urban growth, and examine the environmental consequences of urban expansion. He is an expert in satellite remote sensing analysis and his research brings new insights on the interactions between urbanization and land use/cover change, the effects of urban expansion on surface water hydrology and biodiversity, and urban mitigation of climate change
