Mahmuda Islam

Ms. Mahmuda Islam is the Assistant Professor of Department of Environmental Science at Stamford University Bangladesh. She also served as Lecturer of Environmental Science since August 20, 2016 and as a Senior Lecturer since November 26, 2018. During her term here at Stamford University Bangladesh she has devoted herself to academic and research activities. Besides teaching and counseling she had supervised the projects at undergraduate and thesis at Masters level and is involved in several research projects. These regular research activities allow her to publish eleven (11) papers in renowned national and international journals. Moreover, since the joining she is working as undergraduate program coordinator of the Department of Environmental Science and also member of several departmental committees.

 

She has completed her B. Sc. (Hons’) and MS from the Department of Geography and Environment, University of Dhaka. Prior to joining at Stamford University Bangladesh, she has worked as an Assistant Teacher at college section of South Point School and College for two years. She has also gained research experience through working as Research Assistant in a UGC funded project titled, "Late Quaternary Delta Development and Recent Changes in the Morphology of Arial Beel Area in Bangladesh" for one year and as Laboratory Assistant at Physical Laboratory of Department of Geography and Environment in University of Dhaka for another one year.

 

Since the appointment, she has also committed herself in the extra curriculum and development work of the department.  She worked as a coordinator at "Assessment of Water Quality" workshop and as organizer at ISO 1400:2015 workshop, Outcome Based Curriculum Workshop (IQAC), Data Sharing Workshop and Seminars to observe World Environment Day, Ozone Day and for raising awareness against Chikungunia and Dengue along with several other workshops, training and seminars.Over the past five years, she has actively participated in various projects under the Ministry of Science and Technology collaborating with National Oceanographic and Maritime Institute and working with the Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies. Additionally, he has contributed to projects supported by international organizations such as US Forest Service, European Climate Foundation and National Geography in association with Drik Gallery Ltd.
