Zakia Noor Matin

Zakia Noor Matin is an Assistant Professor of the Department of English, Stamford University Bangladesh. She has been working in this university since 2005.

Job Responsibilities: At present, (from 2022) she is working as the coordinator of MA program of the department of English. She is the member of course distribution committee, routine committee, research and resource development committee and disciplinary committee. Previously she worked as a convener and adviser of StrayBird committee and professional orientation committee.

Other Contributions: Every year, she prepares students as presenters for undergrad conferences  and performers for cultural contests and programs organized by different universities. Her cultural team and her script became the champion in the Inter University Cultural Contest titled as “Fifty Years of Bangladesh’s Independence: Language, Literature, Culture” in 2021 and runner-up in 2023 in the contest titled as “Gender, Binary and Beyond”, organized by University of Liberal Arts.

Events: Every year, she organizes public lectures, seminars and colloquiums for the department. 

Co-curricular Activities: She is the author of the collection of poetry , “The Screaming Krishnachura”, published by R&R publication in 2023. The scripts, she has written for different productions of the department are, “My Language, My Liberty”, “The Border Cafe”, “The Voice of Shikhondini” and “ July Biplob; Amader Golpo, Amader Slogan”.

From 2015 to 2018 she was the convener of StrayBird forum of English Department.

She is the convener of Stamford University Shahittya Forum which is the most active forum among all central forums in the university. This forum has been nominated for the “Presidential Award 2024”, by the student welfare department of Stamford University Bangladesh. Besides organizing different literary seminars, workshops and cultural events, this forum publishes literary magazine named “Chondrobindu” every year
