Dr. Sayma Arju is a Professor and the current Chair of the Department of English at Stamford University, Bangladesh. Her primary research interests lie in areas such as language learning disabilities, educational psychology, ELT, CLIL, and related fields. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Dhaka in psycholinguistics. Dr. Sayma Arju joined Stamford University Bangladesh in 2004 as a Lecturer. She was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2008, Associate Professor in 2017, and Professor in 2024. She has a distinguished academic and professional background and has published articles in peer-reviewed scholarly journals both locally and internationally. She teaches literature, language, and ELT courses in both the BA and MA programs. As a Professor of the department, she supervises student researchers and actively contributes to the Course Offering and Distribution Committee, as well as the Syllabus and Curriculum Development Committee. She serves as the convener of the Research and Faculty Development Committee and the Journal Committee. Additionally, she is involved in various central committees of the university. Dr. Arju has extensive experience in teacher training, materials development, and conducting research, alongside her teaching responsibilities. She is also a writer of short stories and poems, which are featured in various magazines and newspapers.
