The Department of Civil Engineering arranged a “Virtual Freshman Orientation Program” for the Summer-2020 trimester on 12 August 2020, at 12.00 pm noon using the BdREN licensed ZOOM Meeting Virtual Session. In this virtual program, the department provided orientation to the 28 new students admitted in the Civil CEN-73 batch. A sum of 42 participants, including teachers and students, attended to this virtual departmental event.
Honorable Departmental Chairman, Prof Dr. B.C. Basak delivered a welcome address to the new students in the occasion. Also, the Chairman appreciated students challenge for adopting the virtual learning system academically coping with the critical situation arising from COVID-19. The Departmental teachers Ms. Farhana Chowdhury (Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Examination Committee), Mr. Subrata Chowdhury (Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Course Distribution and Routine Committee), Ms. Berjees Anisa Ikra (Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Registration Committee), Mr. Kamruzzam Haque Limon (Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Disciplinary Committee) and Ms. Farjana Akter (Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Admission & Orientation Committee) also spoke on the occasion. Notable speakers provided their valuable advice and counsel about the virtual rules and regulations of the exams, registration, discipline, orientation courses, and class routines to the new students at the event.
Among the new students, Saif Uddin Ahmed Anuj and Sumaiya Jannat shared their remote learning experience through the virtual classes and expressed positiveness to the virtual system and also hoped that they would prove themselves as worthy successors of the Civil Engineering Department. At the end of the program, there was a 30 minutes “Questions and Answers Session”- where new students cleared all of their questions from the teachers present at the virtual event.
Farjana Akter (Senior Lecturer) was the meeting host while Hasnul Habib (Lecturer) and Rumpa Chowdhury (Lecturer) were the meeting co-hosts during the virtual program.
