Stamford University Joins Global Erasmus + Initiative on Sustainability Education

The Public Administration Department of Stamford University Bangladesh has embarked on a significant international collaboration under the Erasmus+ funded project titled “Regenerating Socio-Cultural Sustainability in Higher Education: A Global Partnership for Planetary Wellbeing (RESHAPE)”, which commenced in January 2026.

 

The 36-month initiative brings together a consortium of institutions from Finland, Sweden, Indonesia and Bangladesh, involving eight universities and a digital learning centre. The project aims to integrate sustainability, resilience and innovative teaching practices into higher education systems across Asia.As a partner institution, Stamford University’s Public Administration Department is expected to play a central role in curriculum development, faculty training and international knowledge exchange. The initiative places particular emphasis on socio-cultural sustainability, planetary wellbeing and enhancing graduate employability.University officials noted that Stamford will provide the institutional platform and infrastructure necessary for implementing the project’s objectives, reinforcing its commitment to global academic engagement.

 

Strengthening Capacity and Collaboration

 

Among the key objectives of the RESHAPE project is the enhancement of institutional capacity through faculty training and exchange programmes. These initiatives are designed to embed sustainability principles within public administration and governance education.The project will also promote sustainability and resilience by encouraging both faculty members and students to engage in community-based activities that connect academic learning with real-world societal challenges.In addition, the collaboration with international partners is expected to foster stronger academic networks, facilitate knowledge sharing and support the development of joint initiatives addressing global sustainability concerns.

 

Focus on Innovation and Community Engagement

 

The department’s contributions include developing new courses and modules that incorporate sustainability into public administration studies, as well as supporting hybrid training programmes to equip faculty with modern teaching techniques and digital competencies.

 

Community engagement will form a core component of the initiative, aiming to bridge the gap between academia and society by promoting sustainable governance practices.Boosting Academic Profile and InfrastructureParticipation in the Erasmus+ project is set to enhance Stamford University’s academic reputation on the global stage. Faculty members will benefit from international training opportunities, collaborative research and professional development.The project will also support the establishment of multisensory learning spaces equipped with modern technologies, enabling more interactive and inclusive learning experiences.Furthermore, a Digital Learning and Resource Centre will be developed to provide access to advanced digital tools, research software and e-learning platforms, thereby strengthening data-driven research and academic productivity.Officials believe that the initiative will pave the way for long-term international partnerships, ensuring sustained academic growth and global engagement.Through its involvement in RESHAPE, Stamford University aims to contribute meaningfully to transforming higher education and advancing a more sustainable and resilient future.
