Stamford University Bangladesh Faculty to Present Research at International Conference in Malaysia

Stamford University Bangladesh is pleased to announce that Ms Aleeya Tamzida, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, will present a research paper at the International Conference on Action Research in Language Learning (ICARLL 2026), scheduled to be held on 6–7 May 2026 in Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. The conference is being organised by Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The paper, co-authored with Professor Zakia Sultana, is titled “Innovative Solutions to Mispronunciations Caused by Phoneme-Distinctions of Bangla and English Phonology: A Study on EFL Practitioners.” It is based on an action research study that systematically examines pronunciation difficulties arising from cross-linguistic phonemic variations between Bangla and English.

Employing an action research framework, the study identifies recurring patterns of mispronunciation among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners and proposes context-sensitive, evidence-based pedagogical interventions. These recommendations aim to improve intelligibility and strengthen classroom teaching practices in EFL settings.

The research reflects the Department of English’s sustained focus on practice-oriented and applied linguistic studies, while also reinforcing Stamford University Bangladesh’s broader commitment to academic excellence, innovative teaching methodologies, and active engagement in the international research community.

The university has extended its best wishes to the presenter and acknowledged the scholarly contribution of the co-author in advancing research in language education.
