Principles of Insurance and Their Application in Bangladesh

Dhaka, May 16, 2026, Stamford University Bangladesh has hosted a seminar on “Principles of Insurance and Their Application in Bangladesh” in Room No B-306, Organized by Finance Discipline, Department of Business Administration.
The session was conducted by Shahidul Alam, SEVP & Head of IT, Trust Islami Life Insurance Ltd. He shared his practical insights into how insurance companies in Bangladesh manage and diversify risks through various policies while ensuring compensation for policyholders. The participants also gained valuable understanding regarding the determination of policy premiums. The session remained highly engaging and interactive, fostering meaningful discussions among the guest speaker, students, and faculty members.
The program was graced by the presence of Professor Mohammad Jeaul Hasan, Treasurer and Dean (Acting), Faculty of Business Studies. Dr. Nadia Farhana, Associate Professor and Coordinator of MBA program, Shammi Akter, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of BBA Program, Mahjabeen Ferdous, Assistant Professor and HOD Finance along with all the faculty members of Finance Discipline were also present at the session.
The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Nadia Farhana, who emphasized the significance of organizing such a meaningful session for business students. Shammi Akter delivered an insightful speech, highlighting the strong connection between practical experience and academic knowledge in the insurance industry of Bangladesh. Professor Mohammad Jeaul Hasan, Treasurer and Dean (Acting), Faculty of Business Studies, also expressed gratitude for arranging such an informative seminar.
The program concluded with a speech from Mahjabeen Ferdous, HOD Finance giving thanks to Rima Pervin, Assistant Professor and Faria Mahmud, Senior Lecturer for their tremendous efforts in arranging the session and finally a vote of thanks by Faria Mahmud.
