The Marketing Discipline of the Department of Business Administration organized a panel discussion at the university auditorium on May 2, 2026.
The event was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Sharif N. As Saber, as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by ABM Faqrul Alam, Group Sustainability Lead of Urmi Group. His presentation focused on key sustainability concepts, including emissions and traceability, data realities, as well as the evolving global landscape and stakeholder expectations.
The panel featured distinguished experts, including Monower Hossain, Head of Sustainability at Team Group; Mashook Chowdhury, Senior Manager (Sustainability) at DBL Group; Saydul Arefin, Coordinator Programme at the PROGRESS Project, Swisscontact; Md. Omar Faruq, Senior Advisor (Capacity Building) at ALDI; and Farjana Yasmin, Climate Change and Environment Specialist. The session was moderated by Md. Rabiul Kabir, Associate Professor at Stamford University Bangladesh and an ESG and sustainability professional.
In their remarks, the panelists discussed various dimensions of sustainability integration within the ready-made garments (RMG) sector, with particular emphasis on environmental compliance, ethical sourcing, end-to-end supply chain sustainability—from raw material cultivation to disposal and capacity-building initiatives. The discussions highlighted the importance of continued collaboration and proactive engagement in advancing sustainable practices within the RMG sector.
The question-and-answer session was highly interactive and engaging, with panelists addressing students’ queries regarding future prospects and career opportunities in sustainability within the RMG sector.
Faculty members from the Department of Business Administration attended the event as audience members. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Head of the Department. In the closing remarks, the Honorable Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to the speakers, organizers, and participants for their valuable contributions. Souvenir crests were presented as tokens of appreciation to commemorate the event.
