Stamford University Bangladesh Holds Freshman Orientation for Civil Engineering Students

Dhaka, May 18, 2026: Stamford University Bangladesh organised a Freshman Orientation Programme for newly admitted students of the Department of Civil Engineering at the university auditorium in Siddeswari on Monday.

The programme, titled ORE 101, welcomed students from batches CEN-84-A, CEN-85-A and CEN-86-A enrolled in the Spring 2025, Summer 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters.

Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, Professor Dr Sharif Nafe As-Saber, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he urged them to pursue academic excellence, innovation and professional integrity in order to build successful careers in the field of engineering.

The special guests included Professor Dr B. C. Basak, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Professor Dr Feroz Ahmed, Emirates Professor; and Dr Mrityunjoy Acharjee, Proctor and Associate Professor of the university.

The programme was chaired by Farhana Chowdhury, Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering. In her speech, she welcomed the newly admitted students and highlighted the department’s academic activities, objectives and future vision.

Speakers at the programme emphasised the importance of discipline, research, technical expertise and participation in co-curricular activities for the overall development of engineering students.

Faculty members, students and university officials attended the event, which concluded with a colourful cultural programme.
