SLSC Members Attend Seminar on Measles Resurgence

Members of the Stamford Life Science Club (SLSC) of Stamford University Bangladesh attended a seminar on the recent resurgence of measles in the country, held at Jahangirnagar University.

Titled *“Measles Outbreak 2026: A Call for Scientific Action and Policy Reform in Bangladesh,”* the seminar was organised by the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists in collaboration with the university’s Department of Microbiology.

The session brought together experts in infectious diseases and public health, who discussed the re-emergence of measles, associated epidemiological challenges, and the need for coordinated responses at both scientific and policy levels.

Among the speakers were Firdausi Qadri, Khondoker Mahbuba Jamil, and Sanjoy Kumer Dey. They highlighted issues such as gaps in vaccine coverage, limitations in surveillance systems, and the importance of strengthening healthcare preparedness.

The SLSC delegation included members of both the executive and sub-committees, accompanied by the club’s convener, Sawda Binte Monir. Their participation provided students with exposure to ongoing public health concerns and insights into infectious disease control strategies.

According to participants, the seminar also created opportunities for academic exchange and potential research collaboration, reinforcing the role of student engagement in addressing national health challenges.
