Jul 8, 2026
Two students from the Faculty of Law proudly represented their institution at the International Conference on Evolving Refugee Protection Architectures in South Asia (ICERPASA 2026), held at the Department of Law, University of Chittagong. The conference was organized in collaboration with the Bangladesh Center for Refugee Law Studies (BCRLS), funded by HEAT (PIN-12211), and supported by Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST).
The prestigious international conference brought together leading academics, researchers, legal professionals, policymakers, and practitioners from across South Asia to discuss contemporary challenges and emerging frameworks for refugee protection in the region.
In a remarkable achievement, the research poster prepared by S.M. Sanjidul Islam Niloy (LL.B. 81 Batch) and Sabiha Jamal Nitu (LL.B. 82 Batch) was selected among the Top 20 Posters for presentation at the conference. Representing the research team, Sanjidul Islam Niloy presented the poster before an international audience, marking the duo's first participation in an international academic conference and a significant milestone in their research journey.
Although Sabiha Jamal Nitu was unable to attend the conference due to her final examinations, she made substantial contributions throughout the research process. From preparing the research abstract and presentation to actively participating in the development of the study, her dedication played a vital role in the success of the project. The achievement reflects the team's collaborative effort and shared commitment to academic excellence.
The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Arefa Parvin Taposhe, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, for her invaluable mentorship, continuous guidance, and unwavering support throughout the research process. They acknowledged that her encouragement and academic supervision were instrumental in achieving this recognition.
The researchers also conveyed their appreciation to the Faculty of Law for fostering a culture of research and academic excellence. They described the opportunity to represent their faculty on an international platform as a great honor and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to legal research and bringing further recognition to their institution through future academic endeavors.
