A seminar titled “Digital Transformation of Taxation in Bangladesh: the Evolving Role of NBR”

The program focused on the modernization of  taxation system of Bangladesh and the evolving role of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) in the context of digital transformation.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jeaul Hasan, Treasurer and Acting Dean of Business Administration, inaugurated the session by welcoming all the distinguished guests, faculty members, and students presented at the seminar. He emphasized the importance of academic discussions on contemporary taxation issues and the growing relevance of digital transformation in the revenue sector.

Prof. Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber, Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, attended the seminar as the Chief Guest and expressed his keen interest in the topic. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of organizing such seminars to enhance academic understanding and awareness regarding the digital transformation of taxation system of Bangladesh. He also emphasized the role of technology-driven tax administration in ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainable economic growth.

The keynote address was delivered by Shah Mohin Uddin, FCA, ACMA, Senior Partner of Hasan Mohin Chartered Accountants. In his speech, he discussed the significance of digital taxation, transparency, and technological advancement in establishing an efficient and accountable revenue management system in Bangladesh. 

The seminar was arranged  and organized by the Head of the Accounting Discipline, Shyamali Biswas along with all the members of Accounting Discipline.  Faculty members from other disciplines and students of the Department of Business Administration attended the event.

The participants actively engaged in discussions and exchanged views on the future prospects and challenges of digital taxation and governance in Bangladesh. The event concluded with an interactive session, reflecting the growing academic and professional interest in the digital transformation of the country’s taxation framework.
