Environmental Science Department of Stamford University Bangladesh Welcomes Freshers and Honors Graduates

The Department of Environmental Science of Stamford University Bangladesh organized a Freshmen Orientation, Professional Orientation, and Farewell Ceremony at the university auditorium on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event was arranged to warmly welcome newly admitted students, provide professional guidance to final-year students, and bid farewell to the graduating students of the department.

The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Mahmuda Parvin, Chairman and Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science. The event was presided by Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh.

The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Central University, Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Professor Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor Dr. Mohammad Jeaul Hasan, Treasurer; Muhammad Abdul Matin, Registrar; Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharya, Proctor of the Stamford University Bangladesh, Dr. Md. Sharifull Islam, Associate Professor and Executive Director, SURC, and Md. Ashik Mahmud, Head of the Admission. Faculty members of the Department of Environmental Science, including Kamrun Nahar Khan Mukti and Dr. Taniziman Ara, Assistant Professors, as well as Md. Nasir Ahmmed Patoary and Shaila Akther, Lecturers, were also present at the ceremony. The first session of the program was moderated by Md. Humayun Kabir, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science.

Chief Guest Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam described Environmental Science as a multidisciplinary field with diverse career opportunities for students in his speech. Addressing the fresher’s, he said, “Welcome to the world of environmental thought.” He further emphasized that collective efforts in environmental protection and sustainability can make significant contributions to sustainable development.

In the chair's speech, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber said, “All of you who are here today will one day become physicians of the Earth.” He further emphasized that growing environmental challenges around the world are increasing interest in Environmental Science education. He welcomed the new students and wished the graduating student's success in their future endeavors.

During the first part of the program, students from the 84th, 85th, and 86th batches of the department were warmly welcomed with flowers. In the second part, graduating students from the 75th, 76th, 77th, 78th, and 79th batches were honored with commemorative crests.

The closing remarks were delivered by Mahmuda Islam, Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental Science. The event concluded with a vibrant cultural program jointly hosted by students Tanha Bir Mortuza Niloy and Puja Maitra, while the segment was coordinated by Kamrun Nahar Khan Mukti, Assistant Professor of the Department.
