The Second International Climate Camp 2026, a five-day program focused on regional cooperation and sustainable development, is being held in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal, from July 7 to 11. The event has brought together more than 150 young climate activists, researchers, students, and environmental advocates from across South Asia.
The delegation from Stamford University Bangladesh is led by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber , accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Dean of the Faculty of Science.
The opening ceremony was held on Monday evening at Walnut Bistro in Kathmandu. Distinguished guests included ministers from the Government of Nepal, members of parliament, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, international climate experts, and representatives from various development organizations.
During the ceremony, Professor Dr. Sharif Nafe As-Saber , Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, was presented with a Special Recognition Award in honor of his participation in the International Climate Camp 2026. The award was presented by Ms. Geeta Chaudhary, Nepal’s Minister for Agriculture, Forests, and Environment.
According to the organizers, the International Climate Camp aims to strengthen regional cooperation among South Asian countries in addressing climate change, empower young leaders, and promote sustainable development through research, policy dialogue, and knowledge exchange.
