The Stamford Life Science Club (SLSC) of Stamford University Bangladesh organized a seminar to observe the International Day of Plant Health 2026, highlighting the significance of plant biosecurity, food security and sustainable environmental practices.
The event brought together students, faculty members and researchers for discussions on the role of plant health in ensuring environmental sustainability and public well-being.
The seminar was attended by Chief Guest Dr. Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Dean of the Faculty of Science. Guests of Honor included Md. Aftab Uddin, Chairman of the Department of Microbiology, and Dr. Mrityunjoy Acharjee, Proctor of the university. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jeaul Hasan, Treasurer, and Muhammad Abdul Matin, Registrar, were also present at the programme.
The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Mohammad Robel Hossen Patwary, Senior Scientific Officer at IFST, BCSIR. In his address, he emphasized the importance of plant health in maintaining ecological balance, ensuring food security and promoting sustainable development.
The seminar was hosted by Sawda Binte Monir, Convener of the Stamford Life Science Club.
More than 100 students and faculty members participated in the event, which concluded with an interactive session aimed at encouraging awareness and scientific engagement on plant health and environmental sustainability.
